Honda har tatt Segway-teknikken et skritt videre.

Men dette kan også bli sirkus - bare se for deg hva som skjer om strømmen går eller batterien går tomme. Folk kommer til å falle som fluer.

Fra robot til stol på fire år

På sett og vis har vi også fått svar på spørsmålet: Hvor lang tid tar det å forandre en robot til en stol? Svaret er: fire år.

Det er nemlig nøyaktig fire år undertegnede fikk stifte bekjentskap med den lille roboten Azimo, som alene fikk framføre presentasjon av Hondas MC-nyheter på megastadionet Stade de France i Paris. Azimo fikk til og med håndhilse på Frankrikes transportminister.

Er dette fremtidens bil?

Nå er robotteknologien, som Honda har forsket på siden 1986, trøkket sammen i det som best kan beskrives som en selvkjørende enhjuls kontorstol.

OMVENDT EVOLUSJON: Teknologien bak den menneskelignende roboten Azimo (th) er nå kokt ned til den selvkjørende kontorkrakken U3X (tv).

En times driftstid

FØR: Azimo ble stol, kunne han håndhilse, her på Frankrikes transportminister.

Den lille kjørestolen, eller kanskje vi kan kalle den en krakk, veier 10 kilo, og kan lett brettes sammen og bæres om man støter på en trapp.

Kontorstolene som holder kiropraktoren unna

Fremdriften besørges av et litium-ion-batteri, og har en kapasitet på en time - Det kan jo være en god begrunnelse for å avslutte møter i tide?

Stolen har teknologi som oppdager om den har vippes til en side, og programvare som analyserer hva brukeren av stolen ønsker å oppnå.

Perfekt krakk i kontorlandskap

For enten du bare ønsker å sitte stille, eller bevege deg i en hvilke som helst retning, fram eller bakover eller siden, stolen adlyder dine tanker.

Inne i det som ser ut som ett hjul, sitter nemlig en bråte små hjul som styres av motorer. De kan kombineres til å kjøre i hvilken som hest retning.

UX-3 kommer til få en prominent plass på Honda-standen på Tokyomessen som starter 24. oktober. Når den kommer til din arbeidsplass er noe mer uklart.
